About me

Hello! I am a native and certified French teacher. I have built my career in Europe and Asia (England, Finland, Croatia, and China), where I mainly taught in universities and high schools. My interest for this occupation rose during my first long stay abroad during my studies. Indeed, I appreciated the enriching exchanges I had with local international students. I am interested in foreign languages ​​and I speak several (from fluent to beginner level: English, Spanish, Finnish, Croatian, Mandarin, German). I also enjoy running and playing squash. TEACHING DIPLOMAS: - Master's degree in Teaching French as a Foreign Language (in a French university) - Pedagogical studies certificate (in a Finnish university) TEACHING METHODOLOGY: I use a communicative approach in my lessons. I design my courses using a wide variety of recent and authentic materials, which help learners discover and reuse vocabulary and grammar in context. TEACHING EXPERIENCE: - 10 years of teaching French in public universities in Croatia and China, and in a private university in the UK. General French & French for specific purposes (journalism/political science, economics, and law) - 4 years of teaching in several Croatian high schools (national programs and IB program) - Certified DELF-DALF examiner and scorer since 2019 - Teaching assistant in Finnish primary/secondary/high schools and in English primary schools (2 years) - Workshop leader for the French Institute - Taught French for integration to newly arrived migrants in a French humanitarian association OTHER STUDIES AND SKILLS: - Maîtrise diploma in Finnish (4-year university degree) - Bachelor's degree in English (3-year university degree) - 5 years of Spanish and 3 years of German (in secondary school – but I’ve forgotten a lot of my German, oops!) - Having lived several years in China and Croatia, I also speak Mandarin Chinese and Croatian at an elementary/intermediate level. I have students from all over the world, including older teenagers, university students, and adults. My students appreciate my positive attitude and the careful and organised preparation of lessons tailored to their needs. My classes are always seriously prepared. I use a wide range of modern, authentic materials, give you room to speak, and design a course plan with clear progression to cover your needs. With me, you can learn standard French as well as every day life real spoken French ! I speak fluent English and several other languages, which can be helpful when clarifying subtle points or when starting out in French.
