About me

Hello, my name is Arturo, I’m Mexican, and I have lived in Cancún for over 15 years, but I’ve been involved in tourism for more than 20 years, having had the opportunity to live in multiple countries like Ecuador, the Cayman Islands, Cuba, and Italy. I currently work as a tour guide, and my job involves a lot of direct interaction with people from all over the world, especially with English speakers. I really enjoy talking to them about my culture and my country, and I never miss the chance to teach them Spanish in a practical and fun way while we enjoy the natural beauty of Cancún. You have no idea how rewarding it is when they learn new phrases in Spanish, especially seeing their happy faces! That’s the best reward for me. With over 20 years of experience in the tourism industry, I’ve had the privilege of informally teaching Spanish to hundreds of tourists during our daily interactions. In every country where I’ve lived, it was always very rewarding to find people eager to learn Spanish, like in Ecuador, where I taught Spanish to many visitors from England, Germany, and Switzerland; the Cayman Islands, where I lived for 5 years; or in Italy, where the interest in learning Spanish is deep, as Italian and Spanish have very similar roots. My approach is based on the practical teaching of the language, focusing on how Spanish is used in everyday, real-life situations, without complicated formalities. I use the direct method, the same one that helped me learn English, because I know from personal experience that it’s effective and allows for fast and useful learning. My goal is for my students to communicate in Spanish naturally and comfortably, with lessons designed so that every word they learn has an immediate impact on their daily lives.
