Tutor BIO

Hi there, my name is Justine, and I am a full-time professional ESL Instructor from Ontario, Canada. My specialities include custom curriculums for Business English, Complex Conversations, Kids & Teens, and Creative Writing. I hold an Honours BA in English and Creative Writing from Brock University, as well as both TEFL and TEO certifications from the International TEFL Academy.

My technique prioritizes conversational confidence on a foundation of real-world topics and skills. I create curriculums to suit the specific short and long-term goals of my students, depending on their focus.

Business Students:

Students receive a career and industry-focused custom curriculum, prioritizing your ability to communicate clear, thoughtful, and professional insights. Past business students include:

- former ministers, current European Union personnel, and political analysts

- international corporations, such as Heineken, Make Sense Americas, and NESDA

- young professionals from various fields

Students leave my business classes with the vocabulary and expressions to succeed in their career goals.

Conversation Students:

Students engage in conversations about real-world topics and their own personal interests, as well as practical preparation for everyday conversations with native English speakers. Past conversation-focused students include:

- various English language schools, such as the American Institute (Algeria), People-Places-Things (USA), and Smart Step Associates (Bolivia)

Students leave my conversation classes with the confidence to discuss their interests in English-speaking circles with clarity and casual vocabulary.

Creative Writing Students:

With an educational background in creative writing, I have worked with several professional authors in the past, as well as aspiring writers. Past clientele has included:

- Jennies Edwards, author of "To Milele"

- Yolanda Lezama-Clark author of "Jaidyn and the King of the Brooklyn Carnival"

- several amateur and aspiring authors

This past year I founded a Creative Writing Club for English students in Algeria, where I taught practical and nuanced writing skills for fictional and non-fictional stories. After 4 months we succeeded in creating a 300+ page anthology book, organized and edited by myself.

Kids & Teens:

Years of experience have taught me three things about teaching this age group. Lessons need to be fun, practical, and engage with the student's natural creativity. Exercises with my kids and teens include:

- practice reading comprehension by writing alternative endings to classic myths and legends!

- practice giving directions by directing me through a language video-game!

- learn new words in a game where we explore different countries!

Homework help and test prep are also areas where I prioritize making my students feel confident and prepared. We work through mistakes in a practical and fun way.

For all of my students, regardless of the focus, a mixture of the four disciplines (reading, writing, speaking, listening) is balanced alongside vocabulary-building in order to best equip you to speak your mind as clearly as possible.

Contact me if you are ready to upgrade your English conversation skills, your confidence, and your career opportunities. During our trial lesson we will discuss your specific goals and concerns, your interests and the ways that you learn best. After that, we get started on your custom-made curriculum.

Thank you for reading my profile, and I can't wait to meet you soon!
